We are looking for a Software Developer to join our agile development team.  Further information about the role is listed below, in addition, please find full role profile here

As part of the role, you will:

  • Participate in all aspects of a typical Agile Scrum development process using technical skills, existing understanding and experience to develop appropriate solutions.
  • Question established standards, patterns, architectures & tools and discusses.
  • Work with other staff to gather requirements, model use cases or user stories, eliminate ambiguities in business specifications and to help them understand relevant technical constraints.
  • Track down and resolve bugs in applications often working with IT and other staff to isolate the problem.

This role will report to the Head of Software Development while working day-to-day within a Scrum team.

You will be educated to at least GCSE level, or have relevant work experience and knowledge. Be able to demonstrate an ability to code in multiple programming languages, experience in writing SQL for at least one database platform and knowledge of the software development lifecycle are essential.

Two or more years’ experience writing high quality, well designed, maintainable code and associated unit tests using SOLID object–oriented development principles, highly proficient in C# and SQL and experience of any of the following: Unicode, XSLT, XSD, APIs, React Js, MVC, Design Patterns, Refactoring, Azure DevOps, Jira, TDD, Continuous Integration/Delivery, Use Cases, User Stories, Pair/Mob programming and Build pipelines are highly desirable, as is experience of cloud technologies on Microsoft Azure or Amazon Web Services. 

HESA's bright and modern offices are right in the heart of Cheltenham, situation on the Promenade - the proximity to the shops, cafes and bars make this an attractive location and provide opportunities for socialising. The salary range for this post is circa £30k dependant on skills and experience. We offer an attractive package with initially 22 days leave, increasing to 27 days, plus bank holidays and extra Agency shutdown at Christmas; flexible working including remote and home working options; pension scheme and occupational health support.
